The answers they have come up with are fascinating. Italians and Carniolans are closely related to african honey bees. Makes sense Mediterranean up through the black sea area were trading with the Egyptians. The black bee and the Caucasian are closely related, but more distant from the ital and canies than they are related to the african bee. They kept track of certain markers. Italians had 3 of 3, carnies had 1 or 2, depending on the strain. The old black bee and the Caucasian had none. Kinda explains why when they used to get the old feral swarms all mixed with black and italian they had some hyper ones. the cross probably brought out some african genes. Love it!
